Change the Metro for Good

Don’t you hate when you have a useless amount like 40 cents left on your MetroCard? We all know 40 cents won’t even get you a block in NYC, so what do you usually do with that leftover Metro money? My guess is you either throw it away or let it float around your purse for months, until one day you mistake it for your active card and become very confused and flustered when it won’t swipe you in. Even worse, when the train is arriving and the insufficient fare that keeps popping up on the screen despite your repeated, furious swipes causes you to miss it. I know, I’ve been there. Well, we found something that solves this problem in a philanthropic way. We love love love this idea and we’re sure you will too.
MetroChange is a new start-up company founded by NYU students that allows you to donate your surplus Metro money simply by swiping your card at a MetroChange kiosk. All the money collected is donated to charity. BONUS: The kiosk is also a receptacle for your old, now useless MetroCard. Donate your extra MetroCard change to charity and help eliminate litter at the same time. Now that’s a double whammy, all with just the swipe of a card. Now we can all be philanthropic super heroes. Score!
